1794 military promotion signed by Adams

American statesman (1722–1803) and signer of the Declaration of Independence from Massachusetts who was one of the organizers of the Boston Tea Party and one of his state’s most ardent supporters of the patriotic cause. Scarce DS, one page, 15 x 11.5, July 24, 1794. A military promotion for Seth Hinckley as “Captain of a Company in the Third Regiment First Brigade and Seventh.” The embossed paper seal remains intact at upper left. Matted and framed with a portrait and engraved plaque to an overall size of 29.5 x 19. Soiling, staining, wrinkling, and intersecting folds (separations and small holes), otherwise very good condition. The signature is clear, dark, and flawless.
