Description

Popular American entertainer (1879–1935) who cultivated an image as a wisecracking cowboy and earned worldwide renown for his mordant wit and skill at rope tricks. After a successful vaudeville career, including a stint as the one of the star attractions of the Ziegfeld Follies, Rogers made an easy transition to films and became one of the top box-office draws of the late 1920s and early 1930s. His career came to an untimely end when he died in a plane crash in Alaska along with pilot Wiley Post. Vintage ink signature, “Will Rogers,” on a light green album page, dated May 17, 1930 in another hand under his signature. Matted with a small photo of Rogers at the helm of a ship, to an overall size of 8 x 10. In fine condition. R&R COA.
