Description

Breath taking Richee photo of the ‘Profane Angel’

Nicknamed “The Profane Angel” and “The Hoosier Tornado,” she was the highest-paid actress of the 1940s. Her last film was in 1942, playing Maria Tura in To Be Or Not To Be. She did not live to see its release. Finished in 1941 at the time the US entered World War II, Carole went home to Indiana for a war bond rally. On January 16, 1942, Carole, her mother, and 20 other people were flying back to California when the plane crashed in Nevada. No one survived the crash. The highly acclaimed comedic actress was dead at the age of 33. Breathtaking vintage sepia matte-finish 10.75 x 13.5 Richee photo of Lombard with her hand at her chest and looking skyward, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “For Madeline & Louis, Cordially, Carole Lombard.” In fine condition, with a few light surface marks.
