In full: “The Queen has rec’d Field Marshal the Duke of Wellington’s letter of yesterday & approves that a general order for the officers of her Army to wear mourning for the late King of Hanover, sh[ou]ld be issued, similar to the one wh[ich] was issued on the occasion of the death of the Duke of Cambridge.” The late king was a son of George III of England and, therefore, a blood uncle of Victoria.
