Colorful American financier (1834–1872), variously known as “Big Jim,” “Diamond Jim,” and “Jubilee Jim,” who made his fortune on army contracts during the Civil War. After becoming involved in a romantic triangle with his business associate and a showgirl that led to attempted bribery, Fisk was shot and killed by his desperate, financially strapped rival. Ink signature, “Yours truly, James Fisk, Jr.,” on an irregularly trimmed off-white 4.75 x 2.25 slip affixed to a slightly larger card. A hint of mild soiling, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
