Description

In the big leagues now: Bresnahan and Ruppert bring a minor leaguer to the Yankees

Toledo-born Roger Bresnahan, aka “The Duke of Tralee,” was the first catcher elected to the Hall of Fame (in 1945, a year after his death). Jacob Ruppert, longtime owner of the Yankees, is best remembered for his purchase of Babe Ruth from the Red Sox. Scarce partially printed DS, signed “Roger P. Bresnahan” and “Jacob Ruppert,” one page both sides, 8.5 x 14, September 18, 1920. A “Uniform Agreement for Transfer of a Player to or by a Major League Club,” wherein the Toledo Baseball Company releases player Hamilton Hyatt to the American League Baseball Club of New York (i.e., the Yankees) for the sum of $2500. A hint of mild soiling and handling wear and short edge separations at folds, no faults affecting the clear, dark signatures, otherwise fine condition. Auction LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
