Charming and scarce printed Dinner booklet in honor of Will Rogers, four pages, 6.5" x 6.5", paper covers tied with a purple tassel, given by his friend W. A. McCartney at the Cosmopolitan Hotel, Texarkana, November 11, 1926. With two original, early photographs of Rogers prepared for this booklet tipped to the first two pages, each with a printed caption. The first depicts Rogers in a jacket, vest and hat, captioned “Seventeen, dressed up and full of pep,” the second image is a sight gag with Rogers and another fellow playing cards, both men pointing guns at each other with a caption “Even in school, Will did not place much confidence in kings and queens.” This page is boldly signed “Will Rogers” in ink at the top - no doubt signed at the dinner. Page three contains the dinner menu. Page four lists guests in attendance with a notation “Will, these friends believe in you.” Rogers himself is listed with the memo “Next U.S. President.” Expected light wear from handling and some mild foxing, otherwise fine condition.
