Died in 1967 in the Apollo spacecraft fire. He piloted the Liberty Bell 7 spacecraft, the second and final suborbital Mercury test flight, on July 21, 1961. Personal check, 6.25 x 3, filled out and signed by Grissom, “Virgil I. Grissom,” payable to Holiday Inn for $100.00, August 19, 1965.
