Credited with the invention of modern baseball, Doubleday was also the Union general who supposedly aimed the first gun on the Confederates. ALS signed “Abner Doubleday, Bvt. Maj. Genl, U. S. Army,” one page, 4.25 x 6.25, October 25, 1885. Polite letter to an autograph seeker. In full, “Enclosed find my autograph which is very much at your service.” In fine condition, with bisecting horizontal mailing fold through signature and a couple light creases. R&R COA.
