Promising American boxer (1904–1933), known as King of the Canebrakes, who knocked out 125 opponents (a record topped only by Archie Moore). He died in a motorcycle accident at the age of twenty-eight and was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 1996. Scarce ink signature, “W. L. Stribling, Jr.,” on an off-white 3.5 x 2 card. A small collector’s ink notation indicates that the signature was obtained in Fort Lauderdale on February 21, 1931. A hint of very subtle soiling, otherwise fine, crisp condition. Auction LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
