A pardon for one James Douglas, “on conviction of embezzlement in the postal service … [who] had always before had been of good repute … and served with credit in the Union Army during the war of the Rebellion, and that he has a family dependent upon his exertions for support….” The embossed paper seal remains affixed to the left of the signature. In fine condition overall, with folds (one light touching signature), scattered mild soiling and wrinkling, and small loss to bottom margin, affecting no text.
