Napoleonic marshal (1763–1844) and King of Sweden and Norway from 1818 until his death. Manuscript DS, in Swedish, signed “Carl Johan,” one page both sides, 8 x 12.5, October 9, 1821. An untranslated document, evidently an official appointment. The embossed paper seal remains intact below the signature. In very good condition, with folds (lightly touching signature; short separations elsewhere), staining from seal lightly showing through text on opposite side, and light wrinkling, soiling, and staining.
