Description

Large and superb signed image of the “Rough Rider” at his most dignified

Dignified 9.5 x 13 Underwood and Underwood photo of Roosevelt in his trademark spectacles, signed and inscribed in ink in the blank lower border, “To Dean Sumner, with the hearty regard of his friend Theodore Roosevelt.” The lower border, including the signed portion, was at one point trimmed away, but has been inconspicuously rejoined with the image, and both have been stabilized by mounting to a 14.5 x 18.5 piece of mat board. Apart from the restoration noted above, the item is in fine, visually appealing condition, with neat trimming to other edges, short bend at one edge, a touch of mild soiling, toning to signed area from previous matting, and the faintest hint of scattered silvering. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
