American soldier and actor (1924–1971) whose heroism during World War II earned him the Medal of Honor. After the war, Murphy parlayed his popularity, small-town charm, and baby-faced good looks into a respectable film career, appearing in a string of (mostly) westerns and war dramas. He died in a plane crash at the age of forty-six. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 United Artists publicity photo of Murphy from 1959, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To ‘Cinelandia’ in appreciation - Sincerely from Audie Murphy.” In fine condition, with some trivial edge creases, notations on reverse and a couple small surface dings. R&R COA.
