TLS signed “Oscar Hammerstein,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, May 2, 1949. Hammerstein writes to multiple-Tony-winning producer Gilbert Miller (1884–1970). In part: “I [previously] asked you if you would not at least renew the contribution you had made in other years to the National Conference of Christians and Jews. This organization quietly and most effectively is spreading the gospel of understanding and cooperation among the people of this country…. Won’t you at least repeat this gift [of $200] now?…” Accompanied by an unsigned carbon of Miller’s reply (he already gave!). In fine condition, with staple holes and a few wrinkles. R&R COA.
