Spin, rinse, repeat: Jackson signs a patent for a “machine for Washing & Drying clothes.”

DS as president, one page, 11 x 14.5, December 29, 1832. Patent issued to Thomas Pierce for “the improvement in the machine for Washing & Drying clothes.” Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Jackson and countersigned by Secretary of State Edward Livingston and Attorney General Roger Taney. Attached second page is Pierce’s very lengthy and detailed handwritten description of his improvement, signed at the conclusion by Pierce. In very good condition, with moderate storage folds, carefully trimmed horizontal edges and scattered light toning and soiling. White paper seal is intact and Jackson’s signature is prominent measuring over 5” long. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
