A timely toothache for Truman: “I didn’t want to be there for those Republican meetings anyway.”

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, January 29, 1959. Letter to Donald Dawson. In part, “I hope that you will be able to postpone the University of Missouri Washington Alumni meeting until the first week in May when we can have a really good time and nothing to worry about. My dentist tells me that a whole string of my molars need working on…I am very sorry about it, but I didn’t want to be there for those Republican meetings anyway.” In fine condition, with punch holes and staple hole to top edge.
