Vintage matte-finish 10 x 8 photo of the Mercury Seven posing with a rocket model, inscribed in an unknown hand at top right, “Our thanks for all the fine work to Sylvia from the Mercury astronauts,” and signed in ink and ballpoint in the blank lower margin by all seven: Alan B. Shepard, Jr., Virgil I. Grissom, M. Scott Carpenter, Walter W. Schirra, Jr., Donald K. Slayton, John H. Glenn, Jr., and Leroy G. Cooper, Jr. In fine condition, with the subtle silvering to dark areas, Schirra’s, Slayton’s, and Grissom’s signatures a shade lighter than the others (though clearly legible), and a few small creases at lower left, touching signatures of Grissom and (very slightly) Shepard.
