Ay carumba! Cleveland recalls his Bolivian ambassador

DS as president, one page both sides, 9 x 12.5, April 23, 1885. A formal letter of state to “His excellency, The President of Bolivia,” recalling Richard Gibbs as the United States Ambassador to Bolivia and gives his “assurance of the sincere desire of this Government to strengthen the friendly feeling now happily subsisting between Bolivia and the United States.” Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Cleveland and countersigned by his Secretary of State, T. F. Bayard. In fine condition, with bisecting folds and a touch of mild toning. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
