Writing from the future site of his most famous work

Distinguished American sculptor (1867–1941) best known for his monumental depiction of four presidents on Mount Rushmore. ALS, one page, 4 x 3, July 20, 1909. Borglum writes from “En route—Black Hills” to an unnamed gentleman. In full: “Your note had been overlooked, and I’m sorry for this delay.” Borglum commenced work on Mount Rushmore, located in the heart of the Black Hills of South Dakota, in 1927. Mounting remnants to reverse, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
