Isabella orders her chamberlain to send a gift of money

Monarch who financed the expedition of Christopher Columbus in 1492, helping to discover a new world. DS, in Spanish, signed “Yo la Reyna (I the Queen),” one page, 9 x 12, October 2, 1499. Document reads, in part (translated), “Sancho de Paredes: my chamberlain: I command that from the five hundred ducats which you drew from the account of Hernan Gomez, you give seventeen ducats to Maria de Medina, my lady-in-waiting in order that she can give Francisca de Agramonte the sixteen ducats that I granted her as a gift and present, and one ducat to the other woman.” Scattered light soiling and previous storage folds, otherwise fine condition.
