Lincoln Appoints a Captain in the “Commissary of Subsistence”

War-dated DS as president, one page, 13.75 x 17, March 10, 1863. President Lincoln appoints Charles E. Hiester “Commissary of Subsistence of Volunteers, with the rank of Captain.” Signed at the conclusion in black ink, “Abraham Lincoln,” and countersigned by Secretary of War, Edwin Stanton. In very good condition, with light skipping of ink to a couple letters of signature, some scattered light toning and previous storage folds. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
