War-dated DS as president, one page, 13.75 x 17, March 10, 1863. President Lincoln appoints Charles E. Hiester “Commissary of Subsistence of Volunteers, with the rank of Captain.” Signed at the conclusion in black ink, “Abraham Lincoln,” and countersigned by Secretary of War, Edwin Stanton.
