Papa orders some military reading

TLS signed “EH,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Finca Vigia letterhead, June 28, 1949. Hemingway writes to “C[harles] W [Scribner],” in part, “Will you please send me the following: New book on Ford Madox Ford (believe by Douglas Goldring or another Englishman who wrote a life of Frank Harris - Hugh Kinsgmill is the name. Don’t know which one it is. St. Vith-Lion in The Way Col Ernie Dupuy…The Second World War - Maj Gen JFC Fuller-duell Sloan and Pearce. Could you check and see if my subscriptions to the NY Times Book Review and the Herald Tribune same were renewed? Will be sending another order in a few days when can get my secretary for a day.” Attractively double cloth matted and framed with a photo of Hemingway and a small name plaque, to an overall size of 22 x 18.5. In fine condition, with scattered light toning, light creasing and wrinkling and several pencil notations to reverse, none affecting nice bold signature. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
