Vintage 4 x 5 photo of Earhart standing in the cockpit of one of her planes, signed in fountain pen, “Amelia Earhart.” Photo is affixed to a 1935 TLS from Earhart’s personal secretary to Jean Tool, stating, “Herewith we are sending you an autographed picture. The drawing you made she is keeping herself as she would like to add it to her collection.” Tool sent a sketch to Earhart to be signed and returned, but Earhart apparently liked it too much to return, and sent the photo in its stead. This photo and letter can be seen on page 7 of Tool’s book titled A Youngster’s Collection of Autographs, 1934–1940, a copy of which is included. Paperclip impression to top left, a couple corner tip creases and a few ripples from adhesive, otherwise fine condition. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
