Rare TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10, May 7, 1929. Blandick writes to James O’Neill at Actors’ Equity Association. In part: “I spoke to [Mr. Duffy] about ‘It’s the Climate.’ It seems it was one of the manuscripts he had been given in New York and had read it on the train coming out…. I followed it up from time to time with a suggestion, and Mr. Brownell saw him regarding it in Hollywood. At that time Mr. Duffy said he would wire him within a week, but didn’t. Too late for any action the enclosed letter [not present] came…. I am sure I was disappointed, for I would like to have played the part, but guess it was not to be. I really worked very hard to get Mr. Duffy interested, but it was a case of ‘so near and yet so far’…. ‘Skidding’ opens next Sunday, May 12th, at the President Theater, Los Angeles. I shall know soon whether I am in demand for the ‘talkies’…. I thought you would be interested in the activity re: ‘It’s the Climate’ on the coast. Why was the title ever changed! I thought it one of the best titles I ever heard….” In fine condition, with mild scattered toning and soiling, a few wrinkles, and secretarial stamps and notations. An Oz item of utmost desirability!
