Edison gets out of a financial hole

TLS signed “Thos. A. Edison,” one page, 8.5 x 11, From The Laboratory of Thomas A. Edison letterhead, December 5, 1923. Edison makes arrangements with the president of Fidelity Union Trust Company, Stephen B. Mambert, to pay off a $200,000 debt. “Instead of paying me the One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) interest, which you now offer, I wish you to apply this money to the payment of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) of the Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000) note indebtedness now owing to the Fidelity Union Trust Company of Newark and use every endeavor to reduce the remaining One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) owing to the Fidelity Union Trust Company during 1924.” Matted and framed with a portrait of Edison, to an overall size of 18.25 x 15. In fine condition, with two punch holes to top, office notation to bottom and a couple light vertical folds approaching bold signature. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
