In full: “I thank you for sending me the account in your newspaper of the meeting between President Diaz and myself in 1909. I am glad to put it among my archives for future use.” Accompanied by an unsigned printed card issued to Slater, dated October 16, 1909, admitting the bearer “between the lines at the meeting of President Taft and President Diaz” in El Paso, Texas.
