Lot of two items: TLS, one page, 7 x 9.5, personal letterhead, December 29, 1923. In part: Thank you for letting me know your friendly thoughts concerning me. They cheer me, and the fine handkerchief is a most acceptable gift…hope the New Year will be crowded with happy experiences for you.” The second item is Wilson’s 3 x 1.5 calling card. The calling card was originally with the letter, and one can see a block of same-size toning where it was placed. In fine condition, with the aforementioned block of toning and a tiny chip to upper right corner of letter. Before his term in the White House ended in 1921, Wilson was felled by a crippling stroke, which left him incapacitated for almost a year and suffering partial paralysis for the rest of his life. After leaving the presidency, he moved to a house at 2340 S Street, in Washington, D.C., where he spent his final years. Wilson died there on February 3, 1924, five weeks after this letter was written. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
