Letter to a gentleman concerning the death of an officer’s father. In part, “I was unexpectedly from home when the mail arrived and Capt. Taylor by that means heard of his Father’s death before I had an opportunity of preparing him for the shock…He has bore it as well as could be expected that a young man with his good and affectionate heart could support the loss of a father whom he dearly loved.” Gilt and cloth matted and framed with a small portrait of Cornwallis, to an overall size of 19 x 16.
