Marshall and Nimitz thank a citizen for the Bill of Rights, with Marshall adding: “The presentation in bold letters is a forceful reminder to those fortunate enough to live under such ideals.”

Lot of two TLSs. Included: a TLS dated June 26, 1940, signed “C.W. Nimitz, Rear Admiral, USN” on Chief of Bureau of Navigation, Navy Department letterhead, which reads, in part: “I wish to acknowledge with thanks and appreciation the receipt of a copy of the Bill of Rights which you so kindly sent me and which I will keep in my Library of valuable papers.”; and a similar TLS signed “G.C. Marshall,” dated June 25, 1940, War Department, Chief of Staff letterhead, with very similar content: “Please accept my thanks for sending the artistic Bill of Rights scroll to me. The presentation in bold letters is a forceful reminder to those fortunate enough to live under such ideals.” In overall fine condition, with typical toning and pencilled office notations to both.
