In part, “This note is to thank you for the album of photographs of the St. Paul’s Roll of Honor ceremony last July. Mrs. Eisenhower and I are truly grateful for such a beautifully bound book and we deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness in presenting us with such a lovely gift.” Johnson was awarded the Medal of Honor for his leadership in a critical World War II low-level air raid on the vital Ploesti oil refineries in Romania in August 1943.
