President Jackson signs a presidential pardon for “a certain citizen Edward Abbott was convicted of Manslaughter, and whereas the said Edward Abbott has been strongly recommended to me by the Court and Jury before whom he was convicted, the Attorney General, and the District Attorney of the United States, and by a number of the most respectable citizens of Baltimore for a Pardon. Now therefore, I, Andrew Jackson, President of the United States of America…have pardoned and do hereby pardon him, the said Edward Abbott, the offence by which he has been convicted…and do hereby direct that he be fully discharged and set at liberty.” Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Jackson, and countersigned by his Secretary of State Edward Livingston. In very good condition, with well done repair to bisecting horizontal separation on reverse, intact seal, several vertical folds, three through signature and some light toning. R&R COA.
