RFK replies to a Master Sergeant requesting to place a wreath at JFK’s gravesite on the anniversary of his death: “I have contacted the Military District of Washington with reference to your group, and they assure me that they will assist you in any way possible”

TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, United States Senate, Committee on Labor and Public Welfare letterhead, October 6, 1965. A letter to an Army Master Sergeant who had requested permission to attend ceremonies at President Kennedy’s gravesite on November 22, 1965. In part: “Our family is deeply moved by your desire to make an annual visit to the grave…it is indeed a touching tribute to the President….Our family plans for that day are uncertain; I have contacted the Military District of Washington with reference to your group, and they assure me that they will assist you in any way possible. I would suggest you contact…and he will make the necessary arrangements for you.” Accompanied by a photo of RFK with the Master Sergeant. In fine condition, with small smudge to upper right corner. R&R COA.
