DS, two pages, 8.5 x 11, Warner Bros. letterhead, April 2, 1955. Warner Bros. envokes James Dean extension to his original contract. In part, “The motion picture in connection with the production of which you shall render your services under said contract during the term…shall be the motion picture tentatively entitled ‘Giant,’ with you portraying the role of ‘Jett Rink’ therein, which said motion picture is to be produced by Giant Productions for our distribution. We shall be entitled to commence your services in said motion picture ‘Giant’ on a date to be designated by us.” Nicely signed at the bottom of the second page in blue ballpoint, “James Dean.” Accompanied an April 27, 1955, TLS (and original mailing envelope) on Famous Artists Corporation letterhead to Dean from Harry Sokolov, which accompanied the contract from Warner Bros. to Dean. Dean played the non-conforming cowhand Jett Rink in the film, which was just coming to a close when Dean, driving his Porsche Spyder, collided with another car in Cholame, California and was killed. In fine condition, with horizontal mailing folds and staple holes to top left corner. R&R COA.
