Union general, famous for his march “from Atlanta to the sea.” Personal check, 8 x 3.5, mostly filled out and signed by Sherman, “W. T. Sherman,” payable to John F. Cook, Collector for $1322.85, September 23, 1874. Sherman also crosses out part of the banks name and signs “Sherman” over the crossed out portion. In fine condition, with cancellation cut to center, not affecting either signature and trivial paper loss to top right corner tip. R&R COA.
