Description

A true rock and roll rarity, John Lennon signs a copy of Double Fantasy for his sound engineer, released just three weeks before his tragic death

Double Fantasy album signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint, to his friend and sound engineer Roy Cicala, on the back cover, entirely in Lennon’s hand, “For Roy, with love, John Lennon Yoko Ono 1980,” with Lennon adding two small facial caricatures of the couple, as well as another Ono signature. He also circles two songs on the track list, (Just Like) Starting Over and Kiss Kiss Kiss. Double Fantasy was the album that marked John Lennon's return from seclusion. This was the last album released by Lennon, released just three weeks before his untimely death. Since it did not qualify in time for the 1981 Grammy Award, the world would have to wait until 1982 to see it receive the Album Of The Year award. A sequel album, Milk And Honey (consisting of leftover sessions during and after Double Fantasy), was released in 1984, four years after Lennon's passing. In very good condition, with several light but noticeable diagonal creases through last name of Lennon’s signature and portion of inscription and some other light creases working in from three edges. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Cicala, stating this item is from his private collection, as well as a copy of Beatles Undercover. The record is not included. Also included with the album is a copy of Milk And Honey, signed and inscribed on the reverse in black felt tip “To Roy, Enjoy! Yoko Dec. ‘84.” The most famous signed copy of Double Fantasy was signed for his assassin Mark David Chapman, however, with the provenance from Cicala, this would rank a close second, possibly being on of Lennon’s last autographs. An opportunity not to be missed. COA Roger Epperson/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
