The first black actor to win an Academy Award, for the role of Mammy in Gone With The Wind. From 1950-1953 she starred in Beulah, as Beulah, a comedy television series about a family whose Negro domestic resolves the inherent “situation” with more common sense than the rest of the family combined. Vintage fountain pen signature, “Best Wishes From Hattie McDaniel as ‘Beulah’ 1950,” on a white 3.5 x 2 card, dated 1950.
