Vice President of the US from 1905-09. ALS, one page, 7 x 9, Vice President’s Chamber letterhead, January 10, 1908. Short letter to Governor Frank Hanly. In part, “Two reflections are in my mind: The first is whether a sharp issue with my colleague might be misunderstood; and second whether ‘national interests in Illinois’ is necessary to fill out an admirable sentence.” In fine condition, with a bisecting horizontal fold and some light traces of typed text from another letter transferred onto page.
