President Johnson promotes an Assistant Surgeon, countersigned by Secretary of War Schofield

DS as president, one page, 16 x 19.75, June 6, 1868. President Johnson appoints Richard J. Vickery to the position of Assistant Surgeon. Boldly signed at the conclusion in black ink “Andrew Johnson” and countersigned by his Secretary of War John M. Schofield, who during the Civil War was a Union general who was army commander in Sherman’s Atlanta campaign. In fine condition, with moderate folds, some scattered light toning and soiling, a bit heavier along the bottom and a few pencil notations along bottom as well.
