In the first year of his first term, Nixon consoles a recently-widowed campaign backer: “We pray you will take comfort in the knowledge that she always knew the love and warmth of a family that cared deeply for her.”

TLS as president, one page, 6.75 x 9, White House letterhead, July 14, 1969. During his first year as president, Nixon sends condolences to a financial backer of his 1968 campaign. In part, “Mrs. Nixon and I were deeply saddened to learn that Mrs. Revitz had died and we join in sending our heartfelt sympathy to you…We pray you will take comfort in the knowledge that she always knew the love and warmth of a family that cared deeply for her.” Nixon adds a handwritten postscript under his signature, “I shall always be grateful for the friendship you & Mrs. Revitz have so loyally extended to us through the years,” signing “R. N.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In fine condition, with two light water spots to postscript, affecting a few words of the text. R&R COA.
