“...I also [want] to know what Dr. Powell thinks of Mr. Robertson. I hope that he will think: nothng the matter...”

Founder of modern nursing, known as the “Lady with the Lamp.” ALS to a Mrs. Robertson, signed “F. Nightingale,” one page both sides, 4.5 x 7, personal letterhead, June 10, 1890. In part: “I should be very sorry not to see you. I should like so much to know what Dr. Priestly says to you…I also [want] to know what Dr. Powell thinks of Mr. Robertson. I hope that he will think: nothing the matter…Would you come and have a little luncheon here at two or any hour you please? You do not say whether you sleep in London.” She adds the postscript: “If you have time to give a scrap of paper to a Hansom cab man saying what time you will be here, and what time you would have luncheon, address him here, he shall be paid here. F.N.” and beneath that, “Kind regards to Mr. Robertson.” In fine condition, with a couple of very small areas of minor toning affecting nothing, a horizontal fold at center with a tiny nick at its border.
