Description

Queen Regent 1632-1654; daughter of Gustaf II Adolf; cousin of King Carl X Gustaf, who succeeded her. A controversial woman who proclaimed herself King, creating an economic disaster and a cultural success. She found ruling a burden, refused to marry and converted to the then illegal Catholicism, which made abdication inevitable. In exile 1654-1660, 1660-1689. Upon the death of Carl X Gustaf, she tried to regain the throne. ALS in Swedish, untranslated, one page, 8 x 10, no date. Autograph instructions to farm foreman Loudevic Fritz concerning a payment of 3000 riksdales (17th Century Swedish currency). In very good condition, with scattered soiling, largely in the edges, a vertical crease through a portion of the signature, edge wear, particularly to the left where removed from a book. R&R COA.
