World War II fighter ace, originally declared unfit for flying due to repeated nausea and vomiting. Shot down and taken prisoner in 1940, but released two weeks later. Scored over 100 victories and promoted to General and appointed to Inspector General of Fighters. Killed in a plane crash in Germany on his way to attend the funeral of his boss, Ernst Udet.
