Description

Nicknamed “Black Venus,” she had many ups and downs in her career. Although popular in France, during the McCarthy era she was told that she was no longer welcome in the United States. In 1937 she renounced her American citizenship and became a citizen of France. Vintage glossy 8.5 x 10.75 photo of Baker as she appeared in Zouzou, signed in purple fountain pen, “En souvenir de Josephine Baker 1935.” Some scattered light surface marks, a couple small creases and a touch of light silvering, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
