Grace Kelly

A year before her movie debut, Grace relaxes without her mother: “This past week has been frantic. Description

A year before her movie debut, Grace relaxes without her mother: “This past week has been frantic. I am now at the shore for a week - I was hoping you could stop here on your way to Boston - but mother has gone off to Baeuf for a month, so I’m afraid I couldn’t have you stay here without her being here also.”

ALS signed “Grace,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 4, Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania stationery letterhead, no date. Letter to her friend Nat, written one year before she appeared in her first film. In full, “Please forgive me for not writing sooner to let you know what I was doing - But I haven’t known myself - This past week has been frantic. I am now at the shore for a week - I was hoping you could stop here on your way to Boston - but mother has gone off to Baeuf for a month, so I’m afraid I couldn’t have you stay here without her being here also - I’m terribly sorry Natsy - because it would have been fun to see you again. I had no idea she was going so soon. Let me know when you’re through in Boston and maybe we can arrange something for then.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, neatly addressed in Kelly’s hand and postmarked June 23, 1950.
