Description

King of England, 1760–1820, he supported the policy which led to war with, and the loss of, the American colonies. DS, signed “George R,” one page both sides, 16 x 12 folded to 8 x 12, April 2, 1794. In part: “Whereas James Fry now in Manchester was at a quarter sessions of the peace held at that place in Michaelmas 1793 convicted of felony and sentenced to be transported seven years for same…inducing us to extend our grace and to grant him our pardon for his said crime on condition of his enlisting and continuing to serve us as a soldier until duly discharged…” Intact seal towards upper left, and boldly signed “George R” in the upper left corner. In fine condition, with expected age toning, separations at the folds, scattered faint creasing with two of same through signature. R&R COA.
