Kennedy appoints the first U. S. Ambassador to the country of Rwanda

DS as president, one page, 15 x 11, March 9, 1963. President Kennedy appoints Charles D. Withers, “Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Rwanda.” Signed at the bottom in black ink by Kennedy and countersigned by Secretary of State Dean Rusk. Document also features the rare Bald Eagle vignette at the top. Withers would remain the Ambassador until September 15, 1966. Double suede matted and framed with a color portrait of Kennedy, to an overall size of 23.75 x 35. In fine condition, with light wrinkling, an even shade of overall toning to document, a couple light brushes to Kennedy’s signature and an intact, but toned seal.
