“The treatment there was shocking because I was shut in a separated cell (like the war criminals) although it was known I was a voluntary witness!”

TLS signed “H. Manteuffel,” one page, 8.25 x 11.5, February 16, 1978. Manteuffel relates his capture, the Nuremburg Trials and his post war life. In part, “I came in British captivity because I was captured by the paratroopers of General Ridgeway…I pressed for the opportunity to go to Nuremburg for assertions - as a voluntary witness…The treatment there was shocking because I was shut in a separated cell (like the war criminals) although it was known I was a voluntary witness!” In fine condition, with horizontal fold towards bottom.
