One page letter from Colonel Zachary Taylor

ALS signed “Z. Taylor, Col. U. S. Army,” one page, 8 x 9.75, May 20, 1833. Letter to a Major Hook. In full, “Your communication of the 22nd ulto in relation to Lt. Kingsbury was duly recd by the last mail. Lt. Harris has been appointed to relieve him, & who is now discharging the duties of Asst. Comy. Of Subsistence at this place, who in addition to Lts. Garry & Burbank I by leave to recommend to the Comy. Genl. To fill the vacancy occasioned by the transfer of Lt. K. to St. Louis, as either of those gentlemen I have no doubt will give entire satisfaction in discharge of the duties appertaining to said appointment.” Addressed and docketed in another hand on the reverse.
