A century old dream came true on August 17, 1978. On that day the first balloon to make a successful Atlantic crossing landed at Misery, France, six days after takeoff from Presque Isle, Maine. Aboard the Double Eagle II were Ben Abruzzo, Maxie Anderson and Larry Newman.
